Deciding on your interior design takes a team. Luckily Lalita has Leo the dog and Andrew to help her out. We generally send self-publishers three interior designs to choose from and we try to work in some design elements from the cover as well, whether it be text or a small graphic. In Lalita’s case we tried a few different fonts and made use of some grey dividers as well as some other ideas.

So Lalita how does it feel when you get your edited manuscript back from your editor for the first time?
13 August 2020
It’s Time to Rethink your Fashion is now with us for editing, here’s what Lalita had to say:
Today I spoke with Michael at Publish Central and the editing process has begun. It’s really starting to set in now that I will have a published book in a few months. An added bonus not only is Michael looking after the project he’s going to be editing the book himself.. lucky me!
So now the editing part of Lalita’s journey is underway. Editing takes a few weeks and there will be some back and forth between Lalita and Michael as they mould the book into what it will become for you as the reader.

It has been a couple of big writing weeks for Lalita:
I’m actually so fatigued. Having been working on this book since the beginning of lockdown it’s a combination of lockdown Groundhog Day blues and working on this day in day out pretty much the whole way. One more week and I’ll be handing it over to Publish Central for editing. Last week I was meant to be writing but had so many blocks. I think it was just exhaustion. Today I wrote a list of all the things I need to go back over before I hand it in which made me feel much better.
And then after working through some road blocks, Lalita was back at it:
Another Sunday working on the book with Andrew Griffiths. The last 20 chapters now reviewed and ready to be worked on. On the home stretch now. Lucky for the laughs, pizza and vino. Bring on the last week before handing the book to Publish Central.

You will often hear people say that you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, but in the world of book publishing you definitely do. The cover is the very first thing people see of your book, whether that is in a store or online.
That’s why Lalita has been working with us to get her cover just right, and we are getting close. Once you are near the final stage of your cover, it is a good idea to print it off and wrap it around a book to see how it might look in 3D rather than just as a flat image on your screen. That’s what Lalita and Leo have done!

Lalita is refining and editing her manuscript before sending it our way, take a look at what working on a second draft looks like. And here’s what Lalita has to say:
Editing the manuscript is in full swing. So many stories and refinements to make. My overall intention is to make sure it resonates and creates a connection with the reader. I want to inspire change through a compassionate exploration of our relationship with fashion. We will take a look our personal relationship with fashion. We will also look at the impact of the fashion industry on the environment and the neglect of the people who make our clothes. All this reflection with the purpose of rethinking fashion for a sustainable and joyful future
